ETHICAL TRAVEL

In the past decade, conflict and disasters have increased exponentially leading to record numbers of people requiring humanitarian aid and assistance across the globe. In many regions, the funds required to ensure adequate resources and assistance are rarely obtained. We all need to play a part in ensuring our communities, whether at home or across the seas, are safe, prosperous and self-sufficient. We have a long way to go to ensure this is obtainable for all.

Bev Wills Cruise Holidays has joined up with B1G1 Business is Good to ensure we can play a part even when we are enjoying ourselves and creating memories with friends and family. This means every time you book an experience with me, funds will be donated to those in need.  You will receive an appreciation certificate that outlines the change you have made in someone else's life.

Small acts when multiplied by many, can change the world...

There are 500+ world projects listed with B1G1 Business is Good.  Each month I'll review recent events and update the website to reflect the change we can make together.  A world of giving is my commitment to becoming a Business for Good.

As we inspire others to be part of this change, we can focus on what really matters. Sharing the joy of giving, the impact it creates and the spirit of  making a difference is being helped along by us, together.

2020 PROJECTS

IMPACT 1:    THE GEEKS IN RESIDENCE

The Geeks in Residence project provides digital skills development training and activities to aboriginal communities. A digital skill set is crucial in today's society, and young people with those skills are often called upon to help older people in communities with online and digital tasks. This project mixes learning with fun and meets the interest of children, young people and adults. They offer music making and recording sessions or multi-media skill training. Those skills acquired stay in the community and are then passed on to others creating a beautiful ripple effect.

This project is hugely popular among the younger generation people in the remote Aboriginal communities. People with specific digital skills and good connections with Aboriginal people deliver the training. One of them is Donovan Mulladad who lives in Santa Teresa and is an accomplished musician. He is providing music and recording skills training at the local school and youth space with the help of computers and computer room equipment provided by DotCom Mob. There has been an explosion of musical, artistic and other cultural products from young people in remote Aboriginal communities with the help of the Computer Rooms and Geeks in Residence projects.

IMPACT 2: WILDLIFE WARRIORS

The blazes burning across Australia have destroyed homes and wiped out entire towns. Across Australia, nearly 18 million acres of land have been burned, much of it bushland, forests and national parks, home to the beloved and unique wildlife. Millions of animals have been impacted, many critically injured or even dead. Support the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors in their quest to help and treat animals affected by the bushfires. They are not only treating animals in their hospital but also delivering medical supplies to the frontline of the fires.

As Australia’s unprecedentedly catastrophic bushfires rage, the images are apocalyptic: skies turned blood red by smoke, families sheltering on boats to escape the flames, and landscapes with bodies of iconic animals such as kangaroos and koalas. Nearly half a billion animals have been impacted by the fires in NSW alone, with millions potentially dead. That figure includes birds, reptiles, and mammals, insects and frogs. The Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors are at the forefront treating animals affected by the bushfires. Their patients can range from koalas with burning wounds to evacuated flying foxes or orphaned kangaroos.

2022 PROJECTS

PROVIDE CLEAN WATER IN THE WORLD

Clean water and sanitation are basic humans needs. However, up to 29% of the world population still lack access to basic drinking water. With proper infrastructure and facilities, we can put proper water-related ecosystems into place. Your support provides clean drinking water to communities throughout the world that are water scarce, providing access to a basic human right.

Global projects are a combination of a multitude of projects that work towards the same impact. Your giving will be distributed amongst the various projects to create the amount of impacts you've chosen. This project provides clean drinking water to communities throughout the world with the help of 10 different B1G1 projects. PROVIDE FUEL FOR FARMERS AFFECTED BY NATURAL DISASTERS

Currently in Australia many farming families are suffering in silence as they navigate the devastating effects of natural disaster such as drought, fire, and floods. Their finances are stretched to capacity making it difficult to cover daily living costs such as filling the tank. By providing pre-paid Fuel Cards to our farmers, we allow them to keep their families on the road to ensure the simple things such as getting to the grocery store remain possible during this difficult time, allowing the farmer to concentrate on their core business of feeding and clothing us all.

By providing pre-paid Fuel Cards we allow our farmers to fuel up their family car with dignity because they look like a regular pre-paid card and make no reference to Drought Angels or charity. Maintaining a sense of normality around regular family activities helps to ease stress and the financial assistance eases the burden on the household budget allowing the farmer to concentrate on their core business of feeding and clothing us all.

2024 PROJECTS

SUPPORT FAMILIES WITH HOSPITALIZED CHILDREN

When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness, families can remain bedside for weeks, months or sometimes years. Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are situated within major hospitals all over Australia and provide families with a place to relax and regroup away from the clinical environment of the ward. Support families by providing a cup of tea, shower or freshly washed clothes during the most traumatic time of their life.

A Family Room is a welcoming respite from the ward, moments from the children's bedside. The Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are located inside major hospitals and are exclusively for the families of children undergoing treatment in a nearby ward. Run by friendly and supporting volunteers, the Family Rooms are welcoming spaces where the families can take time out from the clinical environment of the wards, have a tea or coffee, freshen up with a shower or find a quiet space for a much-needed nap. The Family Rooms also have dedicated play areas so the siblings of seriously ill children can have a bit of fun.

Continuing to provide a safe and supportive environment for our families of seriously ill children is our absolute priority throughout COVID-19. Our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms have been temporarily suspended with a plan to reopen once restrictions are lifted.
